Thanks for visiting our website. There, that seems like a good place to start. You’ll have to excuse us if our welcoming statement seems a bit thrown together, we’re not literary geniuses. Not by a long shot. We’re just a group of friends who really love paintball, and since you’re here, I’m guessing you’re far more interested in the latest developments in paintball equipment than you are in soliloquies and character backstories. That being said, we should probably give you a bit of backstory.
My name is Jason and, like most paintball enthusiasts, I discovered and fell in love with the sport in my early teens. I was thirteen years old when I was invited to my friend’s birthday party at a paintball centre and was hooked from the moment I pulled the trigger. Even now, I struggle to explain what it is that so appealed to me on that day. Was it the thrill of the battle? The feeling of complete and total freedom as I maneuvered about the course? Was it the sense of controlled chaos? It was probably a combination of all those things and more. Whatever the answer, I left that party knowing I wanted to spend all of my free time indulging in the art form – yes, it’s an art form – that is paintball.
As time went by and more and more of my friends lost interest in paintball, my obsession with it only increased. With a dwindling number of friends who wanted to spend their weekends slinking through the woods firing paint at each other, I took to the internet to seek out a community of people who shared my interest. The internet had only just entered the mainstream at this time, so I was pretty surprised when I discovered dozens of sites with thousands, maybe even millions of users, discussing everything from helmets to the most effective ways to decimate the competition.
Through these paintball forums, I managed to locate a small group of players in my area who met every second Sunday to play in the back garden of a particularly wealthy member of the group. As well as providing local paintballers with a place to play, he was generous enough to provide the less experienced members of the team with high quality guns and safety equipment. Playing with these people allowed me to develop not only as a paintball player, but as a person. I learned how to hit a target from long distances, how to reload in a timely manner, and how to navigate a course without leaving myself open to rivals.
I stayed with that group for three years but eventually members started to drop off for various reasons, work and family commitments being the most common. I was only in my early twenties during this time and really didn’t have to worry about either of those things too much. The group pretty much dissolved when we no longer had enough players for our bi-weekly game, but myself and two other members, Kyle and Stefan, refused to abandon our beloved paintball. Together, we set about reestablishing a community of players in our home state. That’s how our initial web presence came about. Kyle, who knew a thing or two about computers, created a website specifically designed for players in our area. The aim was to recruit new players to our group so we could resume twice monthly games. While we received only a few emails from nearby players, we received plenty of emails from curious international outsiders. They asked us about the rules of play, as well as about the necessary equipment and which brands should be trusted and which should be avoided.
During this period, we realized that between the three of us, we had a pretty good knowledge of paintball and paintball equipment. We establish a new webpage, this one, to focus on using our combined two decades playing paintball to guide new players towards the best of the best in paintball gear. Here you will find information on some of the best paintball guns, helmets, and markers available. We’ll provide you with comprehensive, easy to follow breakdowns of the most popular gear on the market to ensure you become the best paintball player you can be. Our aim is to help you understand why we, and so many others around the world, love paintball.
Welcome to the community,
John (and Kyle and Stefan).
